The short version
I'm Chris Woods. I've been building complex software systems since 1993. I spent two decades in enterprise — regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, distributed systems at scale for companies you've heard of. I got very good at making large organizations run more efficiently.
Then I looked around and noticed that the small businesses — the ones that actually make up most of the economy — were stuck doing everything by hand. Data entry. Manual reporting. Copy-paste workflows that eat entire days. The same problems I'd been solving at enterprise scale, except nobody was solving them for the little guy.
That's Bitspace. I take 30 years of enterprise-grade engineering and apply it to the businesses that need it most.
Why AI, why now
Every growing business runs on a handful of senior operators whose knowledge holds the whole thing together. They're not slow — they're the bottleneck because everyone else is waiting on them. Their expertise has been compressed into instinct and reflex, and they can't describe how they work in enough detail for anyone else to replicate it.
Modern AI is the first technology that can actually capture how those people work, not just what they do. It takes a structured interview, a clear head, and someone who's built enough systems to know which shortcuts the senior person is taking unconsciously. Done right, you end up with a system that does the work their way — while they get to do the higher-value work they couldn't get to before.
The catch is the "done right" part. AI tools are powerful but they're not plug-and-play. They need architecture, constraints, evaluation, and someone who understands what can go wrong. That's where 30 years of systems thinking pays off.
How I work
I don't do slide decks. I don't do six-month discovery phases. I show up, find the problem, build the fix, and make sure it holds. If your process is a mess, I'll say so plainly — then I'll hand you a working system that replaces it.
You get the senior person — the one who's been doing this for three decades — on every engagement. There's no junior associate getting trained on your dime. Scoped work with clear deliverables and fixed pricing — no surprise invoices, no open-ended hourly meters.
If I can't help you, I'll tell you that too. Life's too short for engagements that don't produce results.
